Camu i'r Uwchradd - Step into Secondary

Annwyl Deuluoedd,
Yr wythnos hon, mae ein disgyblion Camu i’r Uwchradd wedi ymgolli mewn profiadau cyfoethog o ran iaith a gynlluniwyd i gryfhau eu hyder a’u rhuglder yn y Gymraeg. Trwy gymysgedd deinamig o dasgau ymarferol a chreadigol, maent wedi archwilio iaith addysgiadol, wyddonol, amser gorffennol, a mynegiannol mewn ffyrdd sydd yr un mor ddiddorol ac ystyrlon.
Dechreuodd yr wythnos gyda her goginio a gyfunodd gywirdeb ieithyddol â dysgu ymarferol. Gan ddefnyddio eu geirfa Gymraeg sy’n ehangu, creodd y plant ryseitiau manwl, gan ymgorffori ymadroddion addysgiadol a therminoleg dechnegol wyddonol. Roedd ysgrifennu’r ryseitiau hyn yn gofyn am sylw gofalus i ddilyniannu a chywirdeb, gan eu helpu i fireinio eu gallu i roi cyfarwyddiadau clir a chryno yn y Gymraeg. Nid yn unig y gwnaeth y gweithgaredd hwn wella eu sgiliau ieithyddol ond hefyd annog gwaith tîm a datrys problemau wrth iddynt weithio gyda’i gilydd i fireinio eu cyfarwyddiadau. Yr uchafbwynt oedd, wrth gwrs, coginio eu cawliau eu hunain - gwobr flasus am eu gwaith caled a chyfle i ddefnyddio geirfa Gymraeg ymarferol yn gysylltiedig â chynhwysion, mesuriadau, a thechnegau coginio.
Adeiledig ar y momentwm hwn, trodd y plant eu sylw at adrodd straeon, gan ymchwilio i strwythurau amser gorffennol a mynegiant creadigol trwy ysgrifennu dyddiadur. Roedd y dasg hon yn ffordd ystyrlon iddynt ymarfer disgrifio profiadau, emosiynau a digwyddiadau mewn modd strwythuredig a diddorol. I ysbrydoli eu naratifau, fe wnaethant fynd ar ymweliad cyfareddol â Phwll Mawr, amgueddfa gloddio glo hanesyddol Cymru. Roedd mentro o dan y ddaear yn cynnig cipolwg uniongyrchol ar fywydau glowyr, gan ddyfnhau eu dealltwriaeth o dreftadaeth ddiwydiannol y wlad. Ysgogodd yr ymweliad chwilfrydedd a myfyrdod, gan ddarparu deunydd cyfoethog ar gyfer eu dyddiaduron. Wrth iddynt adrodd eu profiadau, fe wnaethant blethu atgofion ffeithiol gyda straeon dychmygus, gan ddangos eu meistrolaeth gynyddol ar yr iaith a chyfansoddi Cymraeg.
Gyda phob profiad dysgu, mae'r plant yn ehangu eu galluoedd ieithyddol ac yn dyfnhau eu gwerthfawrogiad o ddiwylliant a hunaniaeth Cymru. Mae dysgu ieithoedd yn ymwneud â mwy na geiriau yn unig; mae'n ymwneud â chysylltiad, hanes a mynegiant. Mae gweithgareddau'r wythnos hon wedi arddangos pŵer iaith i ddod â dysgu'n fyw, boed trwy goginio, ysgrifennu neu archwilio yn y byd go iawn.
Gan edrych ymlaen, mae'r cyffro'n parhau wrth i'r plant baratoi ar gyfer wythnos arall llawn cyffro o gloywi'r iaith Gymraeg!



Dear Families,
This week, our Camu i’r Uwchradd pupils have immersed themselves in language-rich experiences designed to strengthen their confidence and fluency in Welsh. Through a dynamic blend of practical and creative tasks, they have explored instructional, scientific, past-tense, and expressive language in ways that are both engaging and meaningful.
The week began with a culinary challenge that combined linguistic precision with hands-on learning. Using their expanding Welsh vocabulary, the children crafted detailed recipes, incorporating instructional phrases and technical scientific terminology. Writing these recipes required careful attention to sequencing and accuracy, helping them refine their ability to give clear and concise directions in Welsh. This activity not only enhanced their linguistic skills but also encouraged teamwork and problem-solving as they worked together to refine their instructions. The highlight was, of course, cooking their own soups—a delicious reward for their hard work and an opportunity to use practical Welsh vocabulary related to ingredients, measurements, and cooking techniques.
Building on this momentum, the children turned their attention to storytelling, delving into past-tense structures and creative expression through diary writing. This task provided a meaningful way for them to practice describing experiences, emotions, and events in a structured and engaging manner. To inspire their narratives, they embarked on a fascinating visit to Big Pit, Wales’ historic coal mining museum. Venturing underground offered a firsthand glimpse into the lives of miners, deepening their understanding of the country’s industrial heritage. The visit sparked curiosity and reflection, providing rich material for their diaries. As they recounted their experiences, they wove together factual recollections with imaginative storytelling, demonstrating their growing mastery of Welsh language and composition.
With each learning experience, the children are expanding their linguistic abilities and deepening their appreciation for Welsh culture and identity. Language learning is about more than just words; it is about connection, history, and expression. The activities this week have showcased the power of language to bring learning to life, whether through cooking, writing, or real-world exploration.
Looking ahead, the excitement continues as the children prepare for another action-packed week of Welsh language polishing!
