Annwyl Deuluoedd,
Un wythnos sydd i fynd! Dydyn ni methu credu pa mor gyflym mae amser wedi hedfan!
Uchafbwyntiau’r Wythnos
Roedd y plant wedi mwynhau dysgu am drychfilod, anifeiliaid y fferm, anifeiliaid anwes ac anifeiliaid y goedwig ar ddechrau'r wythnos. Chwaraeodd y plant splat ac roedd y plant yn gyflym iawn wrth daro'r anifail cywir. Dysgodd y plant am nifer o ansoddeiriau gwahanol i ddisgrifio'r anifeiliaid hefyd ac roedd gan y plant syniadau gwych am symudiadau er mwyn cofio'r geiriau. Defnyddiodd y plant yr ansoddeiriau yn wych wrth gymharu'r anifeiliaid cywir hefyd. Yn symud ymlaen i ganol yr wythnos roedd cyfle i'r plant paentio cefndir smotiog, streipïog a lliwgar ar gyfer anifeiliaid gwahanol. Chwaraeodd y plant gêm gystadleuol o barau ansoddeiriau hefyd. Yn y prynhawn dysgodd y plant am sut mae ffermwyr yn gofalu am anifeiliaid ar y fferm. Ysgrifennodd y plant amserlen i'r ffermwr ac yna dangosodd y plant hyder i sefyll o flaen y dosbarth i adrodd yr amserlen o flaen pawb. Uchafbwynt yr wythnos oedd ein trip i Ddŵr Cymru. Roedd y plant gwir wedi mwynhau edrych a dysgu am yr holl drychfilod gwahanol yn yr awyr agored. Tuag at ddiwedd yr wythnos trafododd y plant am ei hoff anifail anwes. Casglodd y plant gwybodaeth trwy ofyn i'w gilydd. Yna rhoddodd y plant y data mewn i graff bar. Yn y prynhawn cafodd y plant y cyfle i ddewis un anifail anwes ac ysgrifennu ffeil o ffeithiau amdano. Roedd e'n wych gweld plant yn datblygu hyder i drosglwyddo geiriau i bapur. Roedd y pant wedi mwynhau'r thema yma. I orffen yr wythnos, creuodd y plant top trumps trychfilod. Roedd cyfle i chwarae'r gêm wedyn gyda ffrindiau.
Araith Seremoni Graddio Ms. Phillips
Fel rhan o'n seremoni raddio yr wythnos hon, siaradodd Ms. Phillips am bwysigrwydd dwyieithrwydd a pha mor falch ydyn ni i gyd o'r plant sydd wedi dod trwy'r ail garfan hon o Carreg Lam:
Bore da a Chroeso i deuluoedd, athrawon, rhieni balch, ac yn bwysicaf oll, plant anhygoel Carreg Lam.
Mae heddiw’n achlysur tyngedfennol wrth i ni ymgynnull i ddathlu llwyddiannau’r meddyliau ifanc hynod hyn sydd wedi cwblhau eu taith yng Ngharreg Lam, ein canolfan drochi Cymraeg. Mae pob un o’r plant hyn wedi cychwyn ar brofiad addysgol unigryw a thrawsnewidiol sy’n mynd y tu hwnt i ffiniau traddodiadol.
Ymunodd y plant hyn â Charreg Lam nôl ym mis Ionawr ac mae wedi bod yn hyfryd eu gweld yn ffynnu dros y 12 wythnos diwethaf. Mewn byd sy’n dod yn fwyfwy rhyng-gysylltiedig, mae meithrin dwyieithrwydd yn anrheg sy’n mynd y tu hwnt i ffiniau ieithyddol. Dyna’r anrheg yr ydych wedi ei rhoi i’ch plant trwy ddewis addysg Gymraeg a Charreg Lam. Mae dwyieithrwydd yn bont sy’n cysylltu diwylliannau, yn agor drysau i safbwyntiau amrywiol, ac yn cyfoethogi bywydau mewn ffyrdd annirnadwy.
Mae’r iaith Gymraeg, gyda’i hanes cyfoethog a’i harwyddocâd diwylliannol, yn fwy na dim ond cyfrwng cyfathrebu; mae'n destun balchder a hunaniaeth. Trwy drochi ein hunain yn y Gymraeg, rydym yn anrhydeddu’r dreftadaeth sy’n siapio ein cymuned ac yn cryfhau gwead ein cymdeithas. Mae Carreg Lam, gyda’i hymrwymiad i addysg Gymraeg, wedi gosod y sylfaen i’r plant hyn ddod nid yn unig yn siaradwyr hyfedr ond hefyd yn llysgenhadon treftadaeth ieithyddol fywiog.
Felly, blant, wrth ichi symud ymlaen, cofiwch pa mor bwysig yw’r Gymraeg a’r anrheg a roddwyd ichi. Coleddwch ef, ei feithrin, a gadewch iddo eich arwain wrth adeiladu pontydd, creu cysylltiadau, a chael effaith gadarnhaol yn y byd.
Teuluoedd a rhieni, diolchwn i chi am eich cefnogaeth ac am roi rhodd yr iaith Gymraeg i’ch plant. Rydych wedi hyrwyddo’r Gymraeg, nid allan o ymdeimlad o rwymedigaeth, ond o’r ddealltwriaeth eich bod am roi’r cyfleoedd gorau posibl mewn bywyd i’ch plant, allan o falchder yn ein gwreiddiau ac o ymrwymiad i warchod ein tapestri diwylliannol. am genedlaethau i ddod. Mae cofleidio dwyieithrwydd yn gyfrifoldeb a rennir, ac mae gennym oll ran i’w chwarae. Diolch am chwarae eich rhan.
Wrth gwrs, dim ond drwy gyllid hael Llywodraeth Cymru a Chyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Torfaen y bu hyn yn bosibl.
Hoffai staff Carreg Lam hefyd ddiolch i Brifathrawon a Staff Ysgol Bryn Onnen, Ysgol Gwynllyw ac Ysgol Panteg am eu cefnogaeth. Hebddynt, ni fyddai hyn yn bosibl.
Fodd bynnag, hoffwn ddiolch yn bersonol i ddau unigolyn sydd wedi gweithio eu sanau bant i ddarparu rhaglen drochi 12 wythnos wych, ddi-stop, o’r Gymraeg i’r plant hyn. Mae maint y gwaith sy'n mynd ymlaen y tu ôl i'r llenni nad oes neb arall yn ei weld yn aruthrol. Gyfeillion, ni fyddech yn credu faint o waith sydd ei angen. Felly, diolchwn i Mrs. Carys Soper – arweinydd ein canolfan drochi – a Miss Megan Stokes – cynorthwyydd dysgu’r ganolfan. Mae gan y ddwy fenyw hyfryd hyn eich plentyn wrth galon. Ond, mae yna un wraig sydd wedi bod yn gefn ar bob taith am flwyddyn gyfan y dymunwn ddiolch iddi: Colette.
I gloi, hoffwn eich gwahodd i gyd i roi eich dwylo at ei gilydd i ddathlu ein carfan Carreg Lam!

Patrymau Iaith a Geirfa’r Wythnos Nesaf
Mae ein hwythnos sydd i ddod ychydig yn wahanol i'r arferol o ran patrymau iaith a geirfa newydd. Bron a gorffen y rhaglen trochi iaith, wythnos 12 yw ein wythnos olaf a’n hwythnos adolygu ac ailadrodd. Felly, byddwn yn edrych ar yr holl iaith yr ydym wedi'i dysgu ar hyd y rhaglen ac yn dathlu llwyddiant ein plant!
Wedi atodi, eto, yw’n llyfryn patrymau iaith a geirfa.
Cofiwch rydych chi’n gallu mynd i’n wefan ar unrhyw bryd er mwyn gweld patrymau’r wythnosau blaenorol:

Highlights of the Week
The children had enjoyed learning about insects, farm animals, pets and forest animals at the beginning of the week. The children played splat and the children were very quick in hitting the correct animal. The children also learned about a number of different adjectives to describe the animals and the children had great ideas about movements in order to remember the words. The children used the adjectives brilliantly when comparing the correct animals too. Moving on to the middle of the week there was an opportunity for the children to paint a spotted, striped and colourful background for different animals. The children also played a competitive game of adjective pairs. In the afternoon the children learned about how farmers look after animals on the farm. The children wrote a timetable for the farmer and then the children showed confidence to stand in front of the class to recite the timetable in front of everyone. The highlight of the week was our trip to Dŵr Cymru. The children really enjoyed looking and learning about all the different insects in the open air. Towards the end of the week the children discussed his favourite pet. The children gathered information by asking each other. The children then entered the data into a bar graph. In the afternoon the children had the opportunity to choose one pet and write a file of facts about it. It was great to see children developing confidence to put words to paper. The pant had enjoyed this theme. To finish the week, the children created top trumps insects. There was an opportunity to play the game afterwards with friends.
Ms. Phillips' Graduation Speech
As a part of our graduation ceremony this week, Ms. Phillips spoke about the importance of bilingualism and how proud we all are of the children who have come through this second cohort of Carreg Lam:
Bore da a Chroeso to families, teachers, proud parents, and most importantly, the incredible children of Carreg Lam.
Today is a momentous occasion as we gather to celebrate the achievements of these remarkable young minds who have completed their journey at Carreg Lam, our Welsh language immersion centre. Each one of these children has embarked on a unique and transformative educational experience that goes beyond traditional boundaries.
These children joined Carreg Lam back in April and it has been wonderful to see them flourish over the last 12 weeks. In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, fostering bilingualism is a gift that transcends linguistic boundaries. That is the gift that you have given to your children through choosing Welsh education and Carreg Lam. Bilingualism is a bridge that connects cultures, opens doors to diverse perspectives, and enriches lives in unimaginable ways.
The Welsh language, with its rich history and cultural significance, is more than just a means of communication; it is a source of pride and identity. By immersing ourselves in Welsh, we honour the heritage that shapes our community and strengthens the fabric of our society. Carreg Lam, with its commitment to Welsh language education, has laid the groundwork for these children to become not only proficient speakers but also ambassadors of a vibrant linguistic heritage.
So, children, as you move forward, remember how important the Welsh language is and the gift you have been given. Cherish it, nurture it, and let it guide you in building bridges, forging connections, and making a positive impact in the world.
Families and parents, we thank you for your support and for providing your children with the gift of the Welsh language. You have promoted the Welsh language, not out of a sense of obligation, but out of the understanding that you want to give your children the best possible opportunities in life, out of pride in our roots and out of a commitment to preserving our cultural tapestry for generations to come. Embracing bilingualism is a shared responsibility, and we all have a role to play. Thank you for playing your part.

Carreg Lam staff also wish to thank the Headteachers and Staff of Ysgol Bryn Onnen, Ysgol Gwynllyw, and Ysgol Panteg for their support. Without them, this would not be possible.
However, I want to personally thank two individuals who have worked their socks off provide a fantastic, non-stop, 12 week programme of Welsh immersion for these children. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes that no one else sees is immense. Friends, you would not believe the amount of work involved. So, we thank Mrs. Carys Soper - our immersion centre’s leader - and Miss Megan Stokes - the centre’s teaching assistant. These two wonderful ladies have your child at heart. But, there is one lady who has been a support on every single trip for an entire year that we wish to thank: Colette.
In conclusion, I invite you all to put your hands together to celebrate our Carreg Lam cohort!

Next Week’s Language Patterns and Vocabulary
Our coming week is slightly different from the usual in terms of new language patterns and vocabulary. Coming to an end of the language immersion program, week 12 is our last week and our review and recap week. So, we'll look at all the language we have learned throughout the program and celebrate the success of our children!
