Wythnos 11 / Week 11
Carfan 8 / Cohort 8
Annwyl Deuluoedd,
Dydyn ni methu credu pa mor gyflym mae amser wedi hedfan!

Uchafbwyntiau’r Wythnos
Am wythnos fendigedig! Ar ddechrau'r wythnos dysgodd y plant am anifeiliaid y byd. Roedd y plant wedi mwynhau chwarae gemau parau ar y sgrin ac roedd e'n gystadleuol i weld pwy fydd y gyflymach. Dysgodd y plant sut i ddefnyddio cardiau lŵp hefyd ac roedd pawb wedi mwynhau. Roedd amser i greu stori fach am y jyngl hefyd. Yn symud ymlaen i'r diwrnod nesaf, dysgodd y plant ansoddeiriau sy'n disgrifio'r jyngl. Roedd y plant wedi mwynhau cael ras i chwilio am yr eirfa yn y pwll o beli. Darllenon ni stori am antur Carlo'r ci yn y jyngl cyn trafod beth maen nhw'n meddwl sydd angen pacio yn y ces am antur yn y jyngl, a beth sydd yn gallu aros yn y tŷ, gan esbonio pam. Yn sicr, uchafbwynt cyntaf yr wythnos oedd ein trip i Ddŵr Cymru. Roedd y plant gwir wedi mwynhau edrych a dysgu am yr holl drychfilod gwahanol yn yr awyr agored. Ail uchafbwynt oedd y seremoni graddio. Roedd e'n brofiad gwych i'r plant ac roedd e'n hyfryd dathlu'r holl waith caled maen nhw wedi gwneud ers dechrau gyda ni. Hoffwn ddiolch yn fawr i chi gyd am eich cefnogaeth y diwrnod hynny a dros yr wythnosau diwethaf. Tuag at ddiwedd yr wythnos dysgodd y plant iaith Clwb Clebran er mwyn mynegi beth yw hoff ei anifail a pham. Yna, mynegon nhw pa anifail doedden nhw ddim yn hoffi a pham. Roedd y plant yn wych wrth drafod. Da iawn chi plant.

Araith Seremoni Graddio Dr. Williamson-Dicken
Fel rhan o'n seremoni raddio yr wythnos hon, siaradodd Dr. Williamson-dicken am bwysigrwydd dwyieithrwydd a pha mor falch ydyn ni i gyd o'r plant sydd wedi dod trwy'r garfan gyntaf hon o Carreg Lam:
Bore da a Chroeso chi deuluoedd, athrawon, rhieni balch, ac yn bwysicaf oll, plant anhygoel Carreg Lam.
Mae heddiw yn achlysur nodedig wrth i ni ymgynnull i ddathlu cyflawniadau'r meddyliau ifanc rhyfeddol hyn sydd wedi cwblhau eu taith yng Ngharreg Lam, ein canolfan trochi yn y Gymraeg. Mae pob un o'r plant hyn wedi cychwyn ar brofiad addysgol unigryw a thrawsnewidiol sy'n mynd y tu hwnt i ffiniau traddodiadol. I Garreg Lam, mae hefyd yn garreg filltir wrth i ni ddathlu bod 40 o blant wedi cael eu cefnogi gan y ganolfan trochi.
Ymunodd y plant hyn â Charreg Lam yn ôl ym mis Ionawr ac mae wedi bod yn hyfryd eu gweld yn ffynnu dros yr 11 wythnos diwethaf. Mewn byd sy'n dod yn fwyfwy cydgysylltiedig, mae meithrin dwyieithrwydd yn rhodd sy'n mynd y tu hwnt i ffiniau ieithyddol. Dyna'r rhodd rydych chi wedi'i rhoi i'ch plant trwy ddewis addysg Gymreig a Charreg Lam. Mae dwyieithrwydd yn bont sy'n cysylltu diwylliannau, yn agor drysau i safbwyntiau amrywiol, ac yn cyfoethogi bywydau mewn ffyrdd annirnadwy.
Felly, blant, wrth i chi symud ymlaen, cofiwch pa mor bwysig yw'r iaith Gymraeg a'r rhodd a roddwyd i chi. Trysorwch ef, meithrinwch ef, a gadewch iddo eich tywys wrth adeiladu pontydd, creu cysylltiadau, a gwneud effaith gadarnhaol yn y byd.
Teuluoedd a rhieni, diolchwn i chi am eich cefnogaeth ac am roi rhodd yr iaith Gymraeg i'ch plant. Rydych chi wedi hyrwyddo'r iaith Gymraeg, nid allan o ymdeimlad o rwymedigaeth, ond allan o'r ddealltwriaeth eich bod chi eisiau rhoi'r cyfleoedd gorau posibl mewn bywyd i'ch plant, allan o falchder yn ein gwreiddiau ac allan o ymrwymiad i gadw ein tapestri diwylliannol ar gyfer cenedlaethau i ddod. Mae cofleidio dwyieithrwydd yn gyfrifoldeb a rennir, ac mae gennym ni i gyd ran i'w chwarae. Diolch i chi am chwarae eich rhan.
Dim ond trwy gyllid hael Llywodraeth Cymru a Chyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Torfaen y mae hyn wedi bod yn bosibl, wrth gwrs.
Mae staff Carreg Lam hefyd yn dymuno diolch i Staff Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbrân ac Ysgol Panteg am eu cefnogaeth. Hebddyn nhw, ni fyddai hyn yn bosibl.
Fodd bynnag, hoffwn ddiolch yn bersonol i ddau unigolyn sydd wedi gweithio'n galed iawn i ddarparu rhaglen trochi Cymraeg wych, ddi-baid, 12 wythnos i'r plant hyn. Mae'r gwaith sy'n digwydd y tu ôl i'r llenni nad oes neb arall yn ei weld yn aruthrol. Gyfeillion, ni fyddech chi'n credu faint o waith sydd ynghlwm. Felly, diolchwn i Mrs. Carys Soper - arweinydd ein canolfan trochi - a Miss Megan Stokes - cynorthwyydd addysgu'r ganolfan. Mae'r ddwy fenyw wych hyn yn rhoi eich plentyn wrth galon. Ond, rydym hefyd yn diolch i ddwy o'n gwirfoddolwyr sy'n cefnogi gyda'r holl ymweliadau addysgol sy'n dod â'r iaith yn fyw - Collette a Sian.
I gloi, rwy'n eich gwahodd chi i gyd i roi eich dwylo at ei gilydd i ddathlu ein hwythfed garfan Carreg Lam!
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
Dear Families,
We can't believe how fast time has flown!

Highlights of the Week
What a wonderful week! At the beginning of the week the children learned about the animals of the world. The children enjoyed playing pairs games on the screen and it was competitive to see who will be the fastest. The children also learned how to use loop cards and everyone enjoyed it. There was also time to create a small story about the jungle. Moving on to the next day, the children learned adjectives that describe the jungle. The children enjoyed having a race to look for the vocabulary in the pool of balls. We read a story about Carlo the dog's adventure in the jungle before discussing what they think needs to be packed in the suitcase for an adventure in the jungle, and what can stay in the house, explaining why. Our first highlight of the week was our trip to Dŵr Cymru. The children really enjoyed looking at and learning about all the insects. Our second highlight of the week was certainly the graduation ceremony. It was a great experience for the children and it was lovely to celebrate all the hard work they have done since starting with us. I would like to thank you all very much for your support that day and over the last few weeks. Towards the end of the week the children learned Clwb Clebran language in order to express what their favourite animal is and why. Then they said which animal they didn't like and why. The children were great at discussing. Da iawn chi!

Dr. Williamson-Dicken's Graduation Speech
As a part of our graduation ceremony this week, Dr. Williamson-Dicken spoke about the importance of bilingualism and how proud we all are of the children who have come through this eighth cohort of Carreg Lam:
Bore da a Chroeso to families, teachers, proud parents, and most importantly, the incredible children of Carreg Lam.
Today is a momentous occasion as we gather to celebrate the achievements of these remarkable young minds who have completed their journey at Carreg Lam, our Welsh language immersion centre. Each one of these children has embarked on a unique and transformative educational experience that goes beyond traditional boundaries. For Carreg Lam, it is also a milestone as we celebrate that 40 children have been supported by the immersion centre.
These children joined Carreg Lam back in January and it has been wonderful to see them flourish over the last 11 weeks. In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, fostering bilingualism is a gift that transcends linguistic boundaries. That is the gift that you have given to your children through choosing Welsh education and Carreg Lam. Bilingualism is a bridge that connects cultures, opens doors to diverse perspectives, and enriches lives in unimaginable ways.
So, children, as you move forward, remember how important the Welsh language is and the gift you have been given. Cherish it, nurture it, and let it guide you in building bridges, forging connections, and making a positive impact in the world.
Families and parents, we thank you for your support and for providing your children with the gift of the Welsh language. You have promoted the Welsh language, not out of a sense of obligation, but out of the understanding that you want to give your children the best possible opportunities in life, out of pride in our roots and out of a commitment to preserving our cultural tapestry for generations to come. Embracing bilingualism is a shared responsibility, and we all have a role to play. Thank you for playing your part.
This has only been made possible of course by the generous funding of the Welsh Government and Torfaen County Borough Council.
Carreg Lam staff also wish to thank the Staff of Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran and Ysgol Panteg for their support. Without them, this would not be possible.
However, I want to personally thank two individuals who have worked their socks off provide a fantastic, non-stop, 12 week programme of Welsh immersion for these children. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes that no one else sees is immense. Friends, you would not believe the amount of work involved. So, we thank Mrs. Carys Soper - our immersion centre’s leader - and Miss Megan Stokes - the centre’s teaching assistant. These two wonderful ladies have your child at heart. But, we also we thank two of our volunteers who support with all the educational visits bringing the language alive – Collette and Sian.
In conclusion, I invite you all to put your hands together to celebrate our eighth Carreg Lam cohort!
Diolch yn fawr iawn. Thank you very much.
